I have made a couple of plum and apple crumbles this afternoon. I have made to much of the crumble topping
Can it be frozen for a later date? Do I bake it first?
Can anyone suggest anything I can do with it as I don't like waste.
Thanks in advance.

Hi! you can freeze it uncooked - just stick it in a tub or bag. Always freezes really well I find.Do what you love :happyhear0

Yep, totally agree with taplady, done it myself, always really good.0

I always make a big batch of crumble and freeze it in bags with just enough for a pud for the two of us (lazy you see) I just use it straight from the freezer on to the top of the fruit, then into the oven.0

AND you don't have to defrost it, as it stays quite crumbly (or at least you can break it up pretty easily). If you freeze it in takeaway tubs the right amount for a topping, you can therefore put your fruit in your dish and bung the crumble mix on top straight out of the freezer. RESULT (spot the girl who always forgets to defrost things).0

i used to make crumble topping up with kids when teaching food tech...we froze it and the next week prepared the fruit and hoisted the topping out of the freezer...it works well...the crumble doesnt really freeze iykwimonwards and upwards0

Another one with crumble topping in the freezer! Great way to have a quick desert after dinner if wishing. Also, I know not very MSE, but have you tried adding some crushed Amaretti biscuits to the crumble mixture? I think it tastes so much better with them in!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

As crumble topping is made from: butter/marg, flour, sugar ... would it not keep in a tupperware box in the fridge for at least as long as the marg/butter pack said it was best before?
Surely mixing it up won't change the effective "best before" date.0 -
Thanks to all the posters above, topping is now in the freezer for future quick crumbles.
