Can I add to frozen curry in freezer?

Hey all

I have just made a chickpea and pea curry but have leftovers. I already have a small amount of the same receipe curry in the freezer which is in a big container. Can I add todays leftover's to this? I would wait for it to cool completely first before adding to it.

Or should I freeze it separately?

TIA

  • Well I would, I'll shove anything in the freezer:D Wait for it to cool then add it;)
  • i would freeze seperately as i was under impression you can only re freeze if you have changed the state - ie uncooked to cooked

I'd leave it to cool, refrigerate, put it on the top of the already frozen stuff and fast freeze. As long as there is no meat or stock in the recipe, the risk of catching anything is tiny.

It's not going to be refrozen, just added to more of the same kind of curry.
  • Thanks all. I let it cool fully then added to the original frozen one. I have a smallish freezer and didnt want to loose space by adding another tub of stuff!

I don't think the chickpeas will kill me off (finger's crossed!)
