Do you really need Sky?, £30 a month is £360 a year. Mind you, if you haven't done so already, switch your phone and bb to Sky, and pay £18.50 a month (that includes T.V.). That way, you get your Sky, phone and bb, and save about £25 a month (exc. phone)

I do think you need to get CAB or similar to check your mother's benefit entitlement - adult rate IS is £64, and there's Carer's Premium too. Is she claiming Housing Benefit / mortgage support by the way?

Personally I think you should contact CCCS, national debtline or citizens advice about your options.

Given her income, I see no possibility of ever being able to repay this amount and therefore you should consider bankruptcy. Sounds a bit drastic.

Sounds very drastic for "just" £1600.
