Holidays....

I suppose this should be (and is) the least of my worries, but we have a 2 week holiday booked on 16th October (being paid for by father-in-law (yes, in-laws can be wonderful things!) which was arranged over a year ago. I am not paying for it, but I have my face to face OR interview on 28th September, and I am guessing after that that I will be asked to supply info, be in contact etc and that will be ongoing for some weeks. Does anyone have any experience of their views on taking a holiday, am I allowed one???? and can I tell them that for 2 weeks I will be uncontactable?

You are entitled to the holiday - enjoy yourselves!! If you have your OR interview nearly 3 weeks before the holiday I'm sure they won't need to contact you during that time.

The holiday was bought and paid for by your FIL, the OR cannot stop you going and will probably wish you a good time after the stress of BR.
Once you've had your interview it's quite likely you won't hear from the OR again. Just tell them you won't be around for those 2 weeks, out of courtesy, not obligation.
Go, enjoy!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
You know what I was surprised to find out? When I was going through my SOA with the OR examiner she said that I havn't allowed myself anything for holidays so she put down my families entitlement of £80 a month, I didn't ask she just did it.
Also we had a break up scotland staying with family but by doing this meant my paper work was late getting to OR in time for interview, she was absolutely fine about it.
Enjoy your holidays!0 -
i was in the same position not long after i went bankrupt though it was a flight to NYC to see my brother that i had bought on credit some while back before I lost my job and went insolvent.
I thought that they would have a problem with it and wanting to keep evertyhing above board i asked the OR flat out. they just laughed and said "well theres noone else that can use the ticket so enjoy yourself"
bloody needed it after all the stress from the few months before. Only down side was that had abolutely 0 cash and brother had to bankroll me. God bless brothers eh. :T
