To clear it up, it is a HDTV, it is NOT HD ready - there is a big difference but for the price, this is still a FANTASTIC deal!!0 -
Ello dragonfly,
In the product description page, one of the customers asked the following:I got one of these tv's last week. Well pleased with it so far, fantastic picture and sound. Only problem is it HD ready? It appears to have a DVI input, and from searching the web some sellers are including HDTV in the specs. But why if it is HD ready are you not advertising it as such? and why no HDTV Ready logo?
Wouldn't it sell better? I'm still a bit reluctant to splash out £300 on a SKY HD box until I'm certain.

So no, it's not HD Ready but it's an HDTV.
It's also all double dutch to me.Target Savings: Deposit on my first property by September 2010>>>[Savings: 40.00% Complete]<<<[Debt: £0.00p]0 -
HDTV - simply means it has the capability to display High Definition pictures (ie has plenty of resolution). This TV has.
HD Ready - Ok, Sky & the likes are going to use a cable with connectors called HDMI to connect the set top box to the TV. This particular TV doesn't have a HDMI socket *however* the TV does have a DVI socket. You can connect to the DVI connection on the TV *but* it will only transfer the video & NOT sound over the DVI connection (therefore you'd need to connect the sound in a different way).
To make matters worse there's a copy protection system called HDCP - an "HD Ready" TV must be able to handle this HDCP on it's HDMI/DVI input. I'm figuring that this TV doesn't handle HDCP on it's DVI input, hence it's not HD Ready.0 -
I wonder if we will run out of abbreviations soon.Target Savings: Deposit on my first property by September 2010>>>[Savings: 40.00% Complete]<<<[Debt: £0.00p]0

Found the p&p cost will be about £18.05 so that brings it to a total of
£605.49
Especially since you can get the Samsung 32" from Freemans for £630 plus shipping. (Does anyone know if the 30% off is still working there?)Target Savings: Deposit on my first property by September 2010>>>[Savings: 40.00% Complete]<<<[Debt: £0.00p]0
