Contrary to a previous thread, the "reduced price 2for1" wrinkle is still alive in their till system.
Example
- burgers are £2.50 a pack or buy two packs for £3.00
- towards the end of the day they get reduced to £1.25 per pack
- you buy two packs at £1.25=£2.50
- they then apply the discount which is £2.00 when you buy two packs
- cost is therefore 50p for the two packs
There have been examples where theyve reduced them by so much (Hovis bread rolls spring to mind) that the more you put in your basket, the less your basket costs!!!

Yep, works a treat for me
What Sainsburys DID change was the way they handled reduced BOGOFs, which still work, but only at the reduced price - fair enough!0 -
Recieved letter from Mr Sainsbury this morning to tell me that there current petrol promo is finishing on Jan 25th (5p off per litre when you spend £50). It will be replaced with 1p off a litre for spend upto £49.99 and 3p off per litre for anything over £50.
Nothing to do with the current thread but worth noting!
;D**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -

A couple of days ago they had satsumas at 2 for £2 but reduced to 25pence each.
When 2 bags went through the till I got £1.38 approx back. ;D ;D"This site is addictive!"

If you search other threads you will see Tescos have amended their software so you don't get discount on BOGOF or 2 for £x reduced items. Now its not worthing buying some reduced items ie. £2.99 meals that are 2 for £5 as they only reduce them to £2.25.

My local sainsbury's has amended it's software so any discounts to into consideration the price - they had just changed all the tills as well.0

raeble
People have posted MANY times that this is the case, and each time they've been wrong.
Are your sure that you are sure?
Sainsbury's nationally have fixed their software so that if it's BOGOF, you get 2 for 1 at the reduced price - which is fair enough.
But Sainbury's definitely haven't nationally fixed their software so that "buy 2 for £5" offers give a lesser discount if they are reduced.
And I would be very surprised if they would work out a fix for this on a localised basis.
How would it work ANYWAY? They can't just make up some random discount. The only way I can think of which makes sense is to reduce the discount pro-rata.
E.g. 2 x £3 things on 2 for £5. Reduced to £1.50 each. So get 2 for £2.50. (Whereas currently it's 2 for £1).
So, if you've got a specific example of how you claim the software has been thus fixed in your local store, please let us know how it works with a specific worked example.0 -

That's still 2 for £4.50 (i.e. cheaper than before), but I catch your drift Poppy.
Tesco are mad doing this. There's no point reducing stuff and making it MORE expensive to anyone who's got the brain to buy two items in the first place.0
