Waiting for a quote......am I being impatient?

Hi All

Just want your opinions - there is a venue we really like and I had a meeting with their caterer on Saturday 18 July - to provide a quote for Indian/English buffet. He seemed very nice and said it will not be a problem. We provisionally booked 18 September 2010. Well since then I have heard nothing from him - he hasn't responded to my emails or anything.
Do you think waiting almost 7 weeks for a quote is unacceptable or am I being too impatient? I know the weddings over a year away but I really need to know his charges as I can't budget for my wedding (we are paying for it ourselves) Also I am struggling to find an alternative venue and most places seem to be booked at least a year in advance.
I'd really like your opinions....
thanks

Think thats a bit slack, personally! We viewed venue three weeks ago for wedding Oct 2010, had a quote last thursday!!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
  • I can perhaps understand not wanting to quote a year in advance (but then again most weddings are in that time frame) but not to acknowledge emails at all is totally unprofessional. I'd email again and say that if you don't have a reply within 7 working days then you will look elsewhere. It may give him the kick he needs but in answer to your question, 7 weeks is too long and I would worry.

7 weeks is too long to wait for a quotation, as he doesnt respond to emails then I would ring him up and maybe send a letter recorded delivery. I would also start looking elsewhere - contact the venue too to say that you are still waiting for a quote from their caterer.

To be honest if they are this unprofessional, do you really want them catering for your wedding?
  • I would have faint alarm bells ringing at this point, if they cant be bothered to quote or try and secure your booking then what will they be like when you do book?
he may have just missed your e-mail so maybe give him another chance but don;t commit to anything until you have had plenty of contact from him (just incase he makes the effort at first, then doesnt bother again)
I'd also keep looking for another venue, there will be another perfect one out there for you.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your replies and now feel confident that the wait is unacceptable.
I've sent another email to him and also left a message for him to call me. I'll also phone the venue and see what they say.
