D+A charged me £11 to stamp my DSE form

I can claim expenses for eye tests (not glasses - I wear these all the time rather than for just VDU work) through work, so took a form along for the optician to stamp for my claim. When I checked the receipt just now, I saw that a simple stamp on the form I'd brought along myself had been charged at £11. Is this standard for opticians? I'll pretty much get nothing back from work now!

I got glasses recently and claimed the money back from my employer. Specsavers didn't charge anything to process the form. About half my work use them so if they did charge they would lose a lot of business. I would go back and query it because it seems a lot to sign a form when you are giving them business. Opticians are always on here moaning about people buying glasses on line and then they pull this one.0

Go back and argue with D & A that you want the £11.00 refunded as you were not advised that they would charge for this when you asked them and only noticed later and as you had never been charged by them before for this service was under the impression it would be free as normal. If they do not have any signs up advising the price of this service then they have no right to charge (they may have something up stating charge for insurance forms but this is not insurance and argue that point also). You could also advise them that if they do not refund you that you will warn everyone and anyone of the bad service, using this site and others as well as posting notices up in work to warn people who may get scammed also by them. Good luck!if i had known then what i know now0

I did think of this, but I got my form stamped at the end of June and only just noticed when filling out my form yesterday.
Don't think posting up notices in work would be the done thing, but thought it was worth letting people know on here - I didn't know anything about it until I saw my receipt.0 -
Did you buy glasses from them - if not you can hardly blame them, you have already wasted their time once, every Optician loses money on a sight test only and hates providing a prescription for you to use elsewhere. If you did buy glasses then I would ask them for a refund as you are a valuable patient.0

How is going to the opticians and having a sight test a waste of their time? It's the service they provide- what if your eyes are fine, should you buy a pair of glasses with clear lenses?0

Boots have stamped eye test forms for me free in the past. I don't have to pay for eye tests since I turned 40 cos Mum has glaucoma and it's free for blood relatives.0

My husband had to have his eyes tested and a form stamped for work , we went to boots and they charged £7.50, seems to be a pretty standard thing. Ridiculously overpriced as it was on top of a £20 eye test.0
