Claim4Refunds.com

All,

A mate has just called me and said look at : www . claim4refunds . com (hyperlink removed to save spam)

I had a quick scan of their website, but these days I'm very cynical of companies that promise to save you thousands (other than this one!).

"According to a legislative loophole" blah "We can get the majority if not all of your credit agreements written off".

£99 minimum fee per card/loan etc.
THEN .... 29%+vat of the amount written off.

Sure sounds tempting to get the majority of my debt cleared in this manner.

BUT ... I would be very keen to hear from anyone who has used them, or any horror stories!

For example what happens if they lose? What happens to my existing cards? Can the banks then demand they are repaid instantly?

Discuss!!!

  • Don't touch them with a barge pole. There is actually a test case going through for this kind of case at the moment so any claims are on hold for the moment. Also if your agreements were made after feb 2007 this won't apply. They're relying on a very slim chance of there being something missing from the CCA that must be included by the consumer credit act and to argue it in court can be very difficult, time consuming and costly if you lose. Unless it's no win no fee don't even consider it and certainly don't pay any fees for them to 'evaluate' your credit agreement to see if you have a case etc.

  • Thanks for that feedback. Was wondering if anyone else had any experience with them?

These people (in general not specific to this company) over promise, over charge and under deliver.

The legal loophole they talk about just means checking your consumer credit agreement and seeing if its legally enforceable in court (even if its not the debt is not actually written off). You can do the same thing yourself using the info on this site for £1 plus postage for each agreement you have.

As IA says - don't touch them with a bargepole.

Here is a link to a thread with many many people asking the same questions over similar companies. Read a couple of pages (start or end) and hopefully you'll see not to use them.

  • Hi Tixy,

    Thanks for the feedback.

I'll go and have a read. I know there is no excuse for irresponsible spending on credit cards ... but the opportunity to reduce the amount know that the lesson has been learn't seemed too good to be true! :P
  • Don`t go there, they screwed me over, wife ended up suicidle, we ended up bankrupt, B@%^%£DS

Yep, that's how they lure people in.

It seems too good to be true because it is.

Tixy has summarised it very nicely - the up front fees are a dead give-away and screams SCAM in big letters. No doubt they'll promise you that they're legit and everyone else is giving them a bad name, how much they want to help all these poor people like yourself who've got into trouble through no fault of their own and so on [breathe]

You'd do much better to face up to your debts and pay that £99 per agreement off the debt directly.
  • I have processed a claim through this company but eventually had to chase the claim myself. I always had to contact them and they were usless. Today I have had a phone call off them demanding payment. They person I spoke to was very rude and threatening. I argued that the service I received was not good and demanded a discount. This was denined. I paid the amount as I felt bullied into it and as I have just had a baby can not deal with this added stress. I do however would like to make a complaint and wanted to know if anyone know of a good way of doing this. I would also like a partial refund because their behaviour was disgusting. Thank you

Don't even think of using them. My dad went with them in Sept last year and they are useless. I have had to phone them for him on loads of occasions and they are rude, i have had the phone put down on me and tehy tell their customers lies. I have now had to take the claim up myself. I have spoken to the bank that we are dealing with and they have said they wouldn't recommend Claim4 refund to any one. I have now registered a complaint about them to the iInistry of Justice have said they can't help Finanacial Ombudsman said they can't help.
