Avon perfumes

i've never tried avon's perfumes (but mum did!), but heard they can be good eg as designer alternatives and for everyday wear.
trouble is, it;s really hard to know what they smell like and how it will change when worn. i usually test a perfume in the shops on at least 3 occassions before i add it to my wishlist. i have to do this as a perfume may smell nice in the bottle or when initially worn but when the base notes are left on the skin - some can give a headache.
my main question is are the avon perfumes a copy of any designer fragrances, as the catalogue doesn't indicate this. does anyone buy avon perfume regularly or tried them.
(btw have already read and searched the thread 'cheap smell alikes...' )
(i have a perfume in mind thats out in new avon bk: Passion Dance - which is being re-introduced, and i have worn the page tester out on my wrist - i should have tried it on my neck...).
hope anyone can help!

I regularly buy Avon 'Far Away' (the variety with the purple and black stopper) - it is described as 'Escape the norm and get lost in a tantalising blend of exotic blooms and sandalwood. Oriental' on their website and it has definite undertones of vanilla. Its full price is £12 for 50 mls (was £10 until recently) and I tend to buy a couple of 50 ml bottles when it is on offer. There usually seems to be an offer on, luckily, when I need more.
They have an offer at the moment 'Buy one, choose one for £1 - mix and match' that includes lots of different Avon perfumes, Far Away amongst them.
The Avon lady once told me it was their best selling perfume (looked just now on website and it says Avon's No.1 Fragrance so she was correct!)
I get lots of compliments when wearing it, from both men and women (but particularly from men, who use the word 'gorgeous' to describe it - the perfume not me unfortunately!!)A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
As an avon rep Ive found the smelly pages are ok, but after a while they all start to smell the same. Best thing is to ask your rep for a few samples of some perfumes you'd like to try. If you are a regular customer she shouldnt mind giving you the samples for free, they dont cost much. You'll get a small tube of perfume which will last a couple of weeks, gives you plenty time to try the perfume and see what you think.
The only down side with their perfumes is they dont tend to last as long as designer perfumes, so Im not a great fan.:o0
