Why don't you do an approved food order and get them to deliver to their address.
That way they can get a good stock up of essentials and some treats.;):DDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Has he got utensils? Cutlery, mugs and wooden spoons are very important! And a chopping board and decent knife. Wooden spoons always used to wander off then you'd find that someone had thrown them out of the window or something...
Deffo a student cookbook or something.
What sort of things does he like to eat?
Various jars of spices, maybe instead of tins of coconut milk a block of creamed coconut as it's cheaper and you don't have to waste any?
Nice instant coffee? (see if there are any on offer anywhere)
I have to say that this is a really lovely idea
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

My DD loved to have: Shampoo, conditioner, heat styler, deoderant, soap - Washing powder wasn't needed because 'Mum's' launderette sorted that every weekend.
She took back with her loads of HM biscuits and cakes, fruit, eggs, cereal, tinned fruit, rice, pitta bread, soup and a HM pizza and basically anything she could snaffle from the larder!Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

ditto pataks curry pastes, i use them about once a week ideal for meat and non meat eaters.
there is something called mugshots....packets of pasta that you put into a mug then add your hot water. its like a pot noodle without the tub. something like 45p a packet i think it was. (for slimming world dieters they are syn free lol)
part baked bread rolls, keep a packet in the freezer if wanted to and just put the one into the oven when you need it, the wee rolls are 45p wheatfield range from tescos.0 -
Depends what kind of things he likes really!
I would think you can't go far wrong with basics like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits (bought or home made). Maybe some things like olive oil, spices etc.
Also I totally agree that household stuff and toiletries would be very much appreciated. Maybe even some clean tea towels etc?:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator

Just to mention: the large jars of Douwe Egberts coffee are almost half price in Tesco at the moment - down to £3 from £5.69...

I was always delighted to receive coffee in a food parcel as a student - the good stuff isn't cheap (apart from for the next week at Tesco...
) and it sure helps get you to a 9am lecture after a big night out!!
