And we're of to Slough court tomorrow for my brother to hopefully get his bankcruptcy. Poor chap is on the ceiling with nerves. I wish i could do more to help him. He feels a total failure and feels life holds no future. I keep trying to encourage him but it seems without effect.
I would just like to thank you all for your advise in recent weeks.

Im new on here today but i am facing upto the fact bankrupty is the way foward for me. I wish I was going to court to do mine tomorrow, i really do. At least when he is made BR no more worry, hassle, sadness etc. Millions of people across the world go BR then come back a lot stronger, wiser and a lot better person for it. I hope I do and I wish your brother all the very best.
Let us know how you get on0 -
The very best of luck for tomorrow....sounds like your brother needs a great big <<hug>>...:grouphug::grouphug:
You have been a tower of strength for him & I would like to say a big well done to you brovahelpa for taking the time & caring enough to look after & support him as you have done.:A:A:T:T
I look forward to the update tomorrow.
Plan something nice for afterwards to diffuse the stress & nerves. Maybe a walk or a trip out...even to the shops or for a coffee...it does`nt help to dwell on the past....this is a new start for him.
You must keep telling him he is not a failure at all...the fact that he has faced up to his situation is to be commended...a brave step to resolve an unsurmountable debt problem.
Good luck.

OH and I went through all those feelings when we made the decision to go BR - thankfully with the help of this site and my parents we realised that we are not alone and BR is becoming more and more common. Our judge was especially nice at reassuring us we are not alone - he pointed out a friend of his has gone BR twice and now drives a flash Jag after turning his life around and also that at my court they were averaging 40 people a week this year!
I know i will feel a failure again when my car goes but i do feel like we have our future ahead of us now! Hopefully your "brova" will start to feel more positive after the deed is done.0 -

Brovahelpa, thought I'd share my experience of Slough court to give you some idea what to expect. Firstly, if you gonna park in front of the court, take lot of change for a parking meter. My advice is park in the Observatory or somewhere else, will work out cheaper. That is if you come by car of course.
Long wait for starters, although hope you will not have to hang around in there for hours like I did. Take a book, just in case. I went there last week with my OH, and I was more nervous than he was lol. The court runs a walk in service for BR between 9 and 10 am. We got there about 9. There were three of us in there. 10 o'clock came and still noone saw any of us, we were informed that clerk hasn't come in yet. First person in the que was sent away because his forms haven't been filled in properly, so make sure that is all filled in, but don't worry too much about it, as the clerk will tell you and let you correct it if anything is amiss, as he did with us. Besides, that first person has been bragging how it only took him five minutes to fill the paperwork in, it took me a week lol.
Second person was in and out withing five minutes, obviously forms spot on. Then us, by this time it was 10:30. There were few adjustements we had do make, but the clerk told us where to cross things out, where to sign, it was all pretty straightforward, and he was very nice, not judgemental at all, even though he is a young chappy lol.
Than it was time to wait for Judge. That was nerve wrecking, as I was worried that my OH BR could be refused. Read somewhere on here that if your outgoings are more than incomings BR could be refused, and ours were way more than incomings, but I left them on the forms anyway.
I smoked untold fags lol, but they dont even have a rubbish bin outside lol, so all those fag buts you'll see on the way in are probably still mine.
Anyways, we got to see the Judge finally at 11:45. She was very nice and smiley, only asked OH is he sure this was the best option, he said yes we have thought about it carefully, and she said you ae now as of 11:45 officialy BR. Good luck. That was it, all in all 30 seconds.
Than we had to wait for OR to phone us back for a quick chat, and than we could go home. OR they use is in Reading, so they have to fax the forms over to them.
You can't leave the court until OR has phoned you.
11:45 still no phonecall
12:45 still no phonecall
Good job their vending machine is well stocked up, and by the time you've drunk about five coffees it actually starts to taste nice.
Two fags left, OR better hurry up.
The other person that was waiting was getting a bit peed off, as he had to go back to work, so he asked the clerk if he could give OR a ring to find out can they call him back on the mobile, so I joined him in the request.
After many phonecalls backwards and forwards with OR office, he said yes okey they will call mobile, even though they prefer to call on court phone. So if you plan on asking, make sure you've got a good excuse why you want them to call on the mobile.
We left, and got that call at 2:45. So that is since 9 am we would've still be there at 2:45. And the court wasn't even busy that day, hardly anyone about.
OR chat was quick, she had a question about the ownership of the car, as it's a bit complicated. Said she'll send the letter within next two weeks informing Oh when the interview will take place, and that will most probably be face to face, which means going to Reading.
So there you have it. Of course, you might be lucky, the clerk might come to work on time, and you might be in and out within an hour. But be prepared for a long wait.
Good luck, I'm sure it'll be fine.0 -

Whooops, silly me, just spoted that you meant you are at the court today, so my two pennies worth probably came too late.
Oh well, at least we can compare notes lol.0 -
Hi All. Well ite all done thank goodness. Brother coped very well tho was nearly sick several times coz of the waiting. But he's offically BR as of 12o/c today and I think hes begining to feel that awful weight he's been carrying round has been lifted.
Think we beat you Lee316. We arrived at the court, as told, at just before 9am and it was 11.30 before the clerk did the paperwork, 1.15 saw the judge, and 3.40 the OR phone call. We walked out at just before 4o/c !
I have to say everyone was so nice and pleasant, but they kept telling us how short of staff they were. I do however think nearly 7 hours is a bit much. Still its done now & thats the important thing.
Can't thank you all enough for your help & support which got my brother thro it.
Love to all.0 -
Glad it all went okey for you and your brother, but :eek::eek: And I'll be back there before the end of this month, suppose better stock up on fags, and bring the flask, maybe a tent :whistle:0
