I'll point it out one more time. These unattractive (inside and out) people are responsible for pricing out FTB's and other potential owner occupiers. Not only that but they like to brag about it on TV and in the Press. They bully people into selling for BMV.

There is no saving grace, no excuse. And hopefully they will go spectacularly bankrupt in the near future. Along with every other chancer that profited off the back of decent ordinary people who just want to buy somewhere to live in.

I honestly have no idea why people would want to defend these people.

Dunno about them going bankrupt, again, not sure what would happen to all the tennants....

I can't solve everything Graham. First the Wilsons have to go, preferably to prison. Then the property situation is sorted out, don't know how it works when all these BTL properties are repossessed. Maybe the Mayor of Doncaster can sort it out.

Perhaps the crooked solicitors, and the crooked banks, and the crooked surveyors who built this empire can be roped in to sort it out sensibly.

Or perhaps in order to avoid debtors jail, the Wilsons can donate the whole lot to Shelter.

But don't you need a heart and compassion to donate to charity?
  • What happens then to the people who live in these places now, who send their kids to the local schools etc?

I'd say you are defending them as much as I was defending tescos. ;)

I would say if an investor bought the properties - they (the tenants) would stay exactly where they are - unless they wanted to move.

The only way they would have to move out in reality is if someone bought one of the houses to live in.

I'm not defending BTL or the Wilsons by any means - but I think BTL in all it's many forms plays quite a significant part in the UK housing market, whether you like it or not - be it BTL with large portfolios of properties or BTL with one or two properties. And until things change regarding the quantity of social housing available to people who want to rent or can't afford to buy and need to rent - it will be with us for a long time to come.

Social housing is actually what I would like to see - lots of it - not to be sold - far preferable to BTL - but we haven't got that unfortunately. We have got BTL.

BTL, in one way or another houses a lot of people - some of the renters won't be able to afford to buy a house and wouldn't have been able to - regardless of BTL and some renters won't want to buy.

The tenants unless they want to buy the properties themselves would be far better off if a property company / pension fund bought them than if they went on to the open market individually - when they might have to find other accommodation. The tenants may be given first refusal - if the Wilsons are desperate to sell - who knows.

There are lots of different scenarios that could play out regarding the Wilsons and their property. One of them could be your selling them for £1.

I may not agree with BTL in principle - but I can't make it go away - it's here and here to stay. I may not agree with what the Wilson's have done - but it's done. I don't get worked up about stuff on here - life's too short - I sometimes will put forward what in my mind is a reasoned alternative, regardless of what I believe. It's called debate.

I'm not defending either them or their business methods - just pointing out they may not be quite as stupid as people think they are.

But I wouldn't imagine they are short of a bob or two of their own.

They do look stupid, though, don't they?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thinking about this, one of the things that always puts be off the idea of BTL (only one though) is the fuss and bother of dealing with it in retirement, and than the possibiltity of not being able to. If I were a Wilson then I'd sell. The problem is then that it is not the nice regular pension alternative payment, bt a lump sum to blow.

It's a fair point Mr Bravo. Now we all know where I stand with regard to the Wilsons <spit>. Tomorrow Krusty Allslop or maybe the Bovey's.
