Getting first house on friday but want to be Mortgage free asap!

    Definitely pay off the overdraft first (and your friend), build an emergency fund and then concentrate on overpaying the mortgage. If your friend is definitely not needing the money back yet, could you put it into a savings account until this has to be paid? maybe you could earn a little interest on it in the meanwhile (although your friend obviously deserves to earn the interest his/herself!)

    Suisiedevw, a good emergency fund can range between 3 - 6 - 9 months salary, depending who you speak to :)
