Had some fun today, our child benefit was paid into the Halifax account by mistake so my OR sorted it out for me to draw it out over the counter. Cheeky Halifax decided it would be much better used offsetting against the other Halifax account I had which was over drawn.
While the lady at the help desk tried to explain it to me as if I were a 3 yr old I called the OR on my mobile and proceeded to tell him all about it very loudly in the centre of the bank. Needless to say the manager realised the boo boo and also the bad publicity they were getting and I was paid in cash very quickly.
When will they learn that with sites like this one popping up all over the web joe public isn't mis-informed or gullible any more and we know our rights.
Still got my cash and enjoyed myself as well, not a bad day

I'm having this problem at the minute with Lloyds, my child benfit went in as I was BR, spoke to OR this morning about she said I was to request it back. I called them and said only a proportion is available because the rest as been eaten up by charges on accounts (included in br) I argued that these came out after br date and surely my benefit money should no longer be able to be used for the charges. They said it's my fault for not telling them asap I was bankrupt so the benefit money used to pay br account charges would stand.
The only problem is I was under the impression I had told them as I was called by an over seas customer service person and I told him there and then. I just don't think I can be bothered to waste any more 0845 phone calls on Lloyds flaming nora TSB! let them have my child's benefit money - it'll be the last penny they aver get off me.. and believe me bankrupt or not I have paid them more than I owe them over the many years I've been a 'customer'.
Hmmmm, I thought I was passed the 'anger' stage!0 -
