Good news from Nationwide

Went bankrupt in March - after five years on DMP - and prior to commencing the DMP had opened a flex account with Nationwide. So had visa debit card, cheque book and small overdraft. When we went bankrupt there was about twenty pounds in this account to cover DD (but then managed to cancel in time so remained in). I didn't owe any money to Nationwide... However had letter today from Nationwide to say insolvency service had no interest in account so I could use again - I even rang their bankruptcy centre to check - and yes I can use cheque book and visa debit card - but they have taken off the overdraft facility - so maybe banks are becoming more sympathetic to us!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thats great news. Cheque books are really hard to come by once bankrupt and useful on occasion.

That is fantastic news. They took their time deciding though, good job you weren't relying on it after BR :rotfl:

I have an Halifax account that was opened a few years before BR, i did not owe them anything when i went BR and the account was in credit, i recently got a statement to say the money was still in the bank account and the account is still active. The account is being recorded on my CRF as a good account.
I have not been intouch with the halifax to see if i can use it as i think its best left as it is being recorded as a good credit accounton my CRF.
:D MOVE ALONG........ nothing to see here..!
