That wknd thread by "the_unknown"

Hi all

This isn't completely a DFW question, so i'm not expecting it to last that long (seems the DFW board police are getting stricter)... but just out of interest... whatever happened to that thread from the weekend written by "the_unknown" ? - the guy who claimed to be bullied at school, 21 yrs old, never had a job and lived a sheltered existence.

Why was it removed? Did it turn out to be a troll posting or did it result in some online bullying taking place?

Just curious as it was such an odd little thread.

Cheers.

I don't know if it was genuine, I assumed it was.

I have been wondering the very same!! That and HeavyHearted's thread kept my glued to MSE over the weekend!

Just because the_unknown didn't want to divulge his ebay ID or website address does not mean he was necessarily a troll.

What did you think? I couldn't quite make up my mind....

I wouldn't post my name, address and phone number on here. Would anyone else? That's the information he'd be giving away by posting his website details or ebay id (plus potential auction wrecking).

For his sake, I hope he was a troll as there were some rather unpleasant responses, I thought.

I'm sure there are many 21yr olds out there who are THAT naive about finances and have never had to take responsibility for themselves.

My only reservation about the_unknown was that he said he hadn't paid a credit card bill in three years and was 'only beginning to get nasty letters'. I'd have thought they'd have started a long time ago!

Well, if he was genuine, at least he got some great support from the likes of Tesuoha (is that the correct spelling?). Bless her.

He did get some great support... I just hope he wrote it down(!) ;)

It was difficult to respond to really. Information wasn't forthcoming and i'm not entirely sure he had a clear grasp on reality.

Nevertheless, it was an engaging little read and, if he's real, I wish him luck... :)

I think it is a pity if it got deleted if he didn't ask for it to be - whether or not you believed him, I didn't see him breaking any rules or being unpleasant to anyone. In fact, he took some pretty heavy criticism in good nature. I don't like it when people start jumping in and accusing other posters of being trolls - we all have to take each other pretty much on trust on a board like this, so if someone isn't causing any trouble to anyone else, I don't see why we can't take them as they present themselves. Just because we might not have been at home with no income at the age of 21 doesn't automatically mean that it is impossible that nobody else might be, and it must be pretty unpleasant to be accused of being a troll if you aren't one.

He seemed quite believable to me because of his response when I asked him if he was bullied at school. After he was called a troll and questioned he just went off line and didnt return. Dont know what happened to the thread but his replies were kind of subdued as if he was responding to a bully.

I don't know what happened to the thread either but I guess it got abusive and was deleted by the Forum Team during the night.
