Passport name change before wedding

Hello,
We've booked our honeymoon flights in my new name, so I need to change my passport.
The thing is, I want to do it sooner rather than later, as I don't want to risk things having to be corrected, incorrect pics etc. But I need to get the registrar marrying us to sign a form. However, I was told that we won't know who's marrying us until a month before the big day (was told this when giving notice of marriage). I really don't think I should wait until just a month before we're due to travel before I apply for a new passport. Am I missing something?!
I'm sure there most be others who have been in the same situation. Any help?!
Thanks

I'd have thought that the super intendent registrar could sign it. I don't think it would matter- we didn't find out who our registrar was until 2 days before.0

I hope so. I just seem to remember reading that it had to be the registrar marrying you that signed all the forms.0

doesn't the superintendant have to be present anyway? - so even if they are not marrying you they can sign the form as they will still be there...Had a thrifty wedding 17-06-10

I got my passport changed before the wedding and I just took it to the registrar office. The person that signed mine wasnt anyone who was at the wedding so I dont think it matters as any of them can check the records.
I would try calling them and see what they say but I think you will be fine0 -
Thanks. We're off on hols this weekend, but once I'm back I think I'll call the registrars and unleash my questions on them!0

Hi
I got married 10 days ago and we managed to get my passport done a month ago. The registrar's office have to sign a form for you and you send that off with the passport.
You can find out all the info on the passport office website:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Passports/Howtochangethenameonyourpassport/DG_174165
You can even download the form from that page as well.
Good luck
