I am really worried about my upcoming dress fitting,it hopefully will be withing the next 2 or 3 weeks(if its not I will be worried I wont have a dress for the wedding).
When I ordered the lady went by my largest measurment which was my waist(because I had a fat tummy)It was out of proportion with the rest of me so that meant that even if I stayed the same size all the rest of the dress would need taken in 2 sizes.
She did order 1 size smaller and that meant I had to lose 1" on the waist to fit into it.I wanted it ordered 2 or 3 sizes smaller but she wouldnt do it.
I have lost a little weight since the dress was ordered 2 months ago and have dropped 2 dress sizes, that means the waist needs taken in 2 sizes,BUT the rest of the dress needs taken in 4 sizes as it was 2 sizes too big to start with to accomodate my podgy tum.
Hips, bust and under bust are 4.5" smaller than before and waist is 3" smaller.I will lose more weight before the wedding too as I am ill just now(jaw cartilage slips and I can only eat liquids and really soft food,no chewing.).
Are they going to be able to adjust the dress to fit without altering the style of it too much. Its a Mori lee 230 ballgown.
I have a back up,a watters & watters purple ballgown bought on ebay for £37, but its a size 12 and I am not going to get into that(I am an 18 now in Mori Lewe sizes, dress was ordered in a 24 to fit fat tum, nothing a good corset couldn,t have fixed IMO).
Dress makers advice appreciated please.

Wedding dresses are normally cut small so it's always a shock when they order a size 18 when you actually know you are a 12/14 for example.
She did exactly the correct thing in ordering you the size rather than your request to order a smaller size. With all good intentions any bride intending to shed a lot of weight more often than not goes by the by.
Without actually knowing how the dress will fit now that you have lost some weight, you cannot determine the dress size it may be reduced by.
The seamsrtess should be more than competent to make your dress fit you perfectly.
I wouldn't panic about anything but if you need to set your mind at ease, ask to go try the dress on again. You may need a mid week appointment because weekends can be busy. You could even request to bring the fitting date forward. Your day sweetie so don't be pushed around by the shop. They may be confident, but they now need to convey this to you.
