Resturants near Travelodge Musselburgh

Options
Hi

We are planning an overnight stop at the above this Friday nights and from the website can see it has a LittleChef for eating in. Just wondered if anyone could recommend a family place to eat nearby, not that keen on LChefs. Also is there a supermarket nearby for brekkie? Many thanks.

  • I dont think there is anything within walking distance. There is a Tesco in Musselburgh and an Asda nearby.

Restaurants in Musselburgh are The Woodside across from the racecourse. The Glasshouse on Station Road (though a bit expensive). Caprice on High Street. The Ravelston on North High Street, Restuarant 102 on New Street. I think that is about it.

There is a Tesco in Musselburgh and an Asda at The Jewel (about 5 mins from Travelodge). Musselburgh is about 10 mins from the Travelodge.

Not eaten at the first two. Its years since the third but notice the reviews are not good now. The fourth is a cafe.

For pub grub there is The Mayfair of which I have heard fairly positive reviews.

All in all I think if I was going to Musselburgh it would probably be the Caprice as elkay has mentioned.

The Jooglie Brig is 5 mins walk away and there's The Cockatoo which is a couple of minutes drive in the other direction.

As has been mentioned already, both Asda and Tesco are within 5 mins drive and both do early morning breakfasts, Asda is open 24 hrs and slightly closer but there's not much in it.
  • Hi

Many thanks guys, will check these out. We have our 2.5 yr old daughter with us so somewhere quite simple will do us fine, plus I will drive so distance no problem. I did not fancy the brekkie at the Travelodge so one of the supermarkets will do nicely. Thanks again all.

For breakfast I would recommend Lucas Olympia cafe, have eaten there numerous times.

Caprice's Pizzarama is just along from the Tesco at the start of the High Street and does great pizzas and pasta at reasonable prices. Around £10 for a main course and under £5 for starters. Decor inside is not great but worth it for the great pizzas.

For lunches or dinner I would recommend the Cockatoo as mentioned previously or for a drive of around 15 minutes (musselburgh is a 10 min drive form the hotel) I would strongly recommend the Longniddry Inn. It is opposite the train station in Longniddry if you have sat-nav and has an extensive menu and the portions are very generous.

If you are staying at the travelodge I would recommend taking the car into Musselburgh as it is a walk but it is windy country roads which may ot have street-lights the whole way.

When in Musselburgh I would advise that if you do go to Lucas try the ice-cream as it is the best in the east of Scotland.

The Jooglie doesn't do food anymore. They stopped quite a while back which is shame because it is two minutes from my doorstep!

The Quay has a delicious menu, as does 102 and the Caprice as already mentioned. The Mayfair can get a bit lairy on a Friday night! And theres Di Rollos Ice CReam, just as good as Lucas :D
Finally, I can see you crystal clear
