Have added my support. Again it isn't somewhere I take a look, ever. A lot of the OS content is often rather 'un- green', but there is also plenty of overlap. I think another space could be a good idea.0

I have posted my support on starlights forums post thingy (
) which sent me to somewhere else. Sorry I' not sure where it is or what it's called:o

I'm copying my reply to the thread you linked to simply because you make the points which I've highlighted in red in the quote above ...
Haven't had time to give this much thought but, my knee jerk reaction is that these issues are already very much related to the OS forum.
If you take away composting/other recycling aspects/local produce sourcing etc., - OS will become nothing more than a recipe collection forum.
Yes, old style really does encompass all those things. As little as 50yrs ago, recycling, composting, energy issues, were all a natural consideration and a way of life - it's only the explosion in consumerism of the past 50yrs that has really turned things full circle and highlighted the need to return to the OS lifestyle ways and means which are very much eco-friendly *and* money saving. I think the WWII reference in the description is very much a misnomer, but a previous attempt to change the description only caused controversy and so the WWII reference remains.
I think it's very sad that in the past year or so, many topics which were very much "old style" issues have been switched, swapped and confused to the point where the whole OS board has altered from it's humble beginnings to such a degree where we are now at a stage of thinking a "green" board is a necessary and innovative idea.
I don't wish to offend anyone here with my views, as I said this is a knee jerk reaction - but once upon a time, "discussing" green issues was ok on OS, then it became un-ok in some instances and discussions of that calibre were moved to the "Discussions" forum, where they died a death; Boot Fair discussions (in the context of recycling) were then deemed non-OS and have now been given over to Ebay and other Auctions; Charity Shop shopping has been sent off to Shop but Don't Drop and now there's a suggestion that composting and recycling be discussed in yet another board??? Where are we to put HM cleaners and beauty products? OS or Green? How about HM gifts? Do we then have a MS HM crafts board too?
Please don't take me the wrong way - I'm all for green issues, but I truly did think OS was the place for that. Like I say, some "traditional" topics that were a part of OS have already been taken away - if we keep taking away and fragmenting topics from OS ... you're going to end up with nothing more than a recipe board and quite frankly, the Internet is already full of dedicated recipe websites~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

would an OS sub-board be the answer? There just needs to be some way of making clear where specific ethical issues should be posted from the main chat page.
If ever I have an ethical thread to start, I would come to OS, even if the topic is something more New Style (for example to discuss things like green cones which are a relatively recent development but one that epitomises the "waste not, want not" ethos of OS). Mainly because the mindset of ethical is very similar to pure OS and I know I'll find a good reception from the folks hanging out on the OS board.
Hope that makes sense.Highest debt - £24500

Well put Queenie.
I am in a situation where I can finally make huge changes to my lifestyle and want go very "Green" so instead of posting on here I use different fora that provide the answers I seek. Not having a green board is MSEs loss not mine! I agree that green sub board would sit happily on the OS forum. The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0
