comfort pearls

Hi
Does anyone know where I can buy Comfort pearls (the softener you put in the drum of the washing machine, with the clothes)? There are none at my local Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Wilkinsons or Home Bargains.

My washer takes the softener from the drawer straight away (old machine, but I still love it:D), so our clothes don't smell as nice as I want them to (ie, you can't smell any softener).

I tried putting softener in one of those little plastic ball thingies you put washing liquid in (in the drum), but it stained some of the clothes, so I haven't tried it again.

Thanks

I can't get my head round how these work  .

With fabric conditioner liquid you put in the drawer, the conditioner is released after the washing has finished at the final rinse stage, coating the fibres of the fabric to make them feel softer.

With these pearls, you put them in the drum and the capsule dissolves at some stage during the wash cycle. Surely further washing and numerous rinses washes the conditioner out of the fabric  .

As for the smell, I've always found the smell doesn't last that long. I bought some lavender conditioner to use when I washed the sheets, thinking it might help me sleep better. By the time I come to use the sheets the next week there's no smell left.

Sorry Cal1, I can't help with where you can buy them, we've only got a Co-op and there's not much choice.

    Thanks anyway Tomsmum
Unfortunately my old washing machine takes the softener along with the powder/liquid (as soon as the machine is switched on).

These pearls really do make your clothes smell nice.

    Never mind, i'll keep looking
    Thanks again

Gosh, that's a funny system. I have an oldish Hotpoint Aquarius but it does have a separate compartment for the fabric conditioner and it takes it on the final rinse - I have to know these things so I've looked in the past to see when it goes, only had one accident when I opened the drawer when water was actually going in, I'm a quick learner :rotfl: .
  • I worry they have been discontinued as I haven't seen any for a few months now. I loved them for the bed sheets as even after much more than the advertised 2 weeks the sheets came out of the drawer to go on the bed still smelling gorgeous.
  • Just called Unilever and they told me that they have discontinued this product. Real shame as I thought Comfort Pearls were great too.
