Just wondering if

My OR interview is tomorrow.

My DH works 20 miles away, full-time 6 days a week. The bus route he has would take over an hour and would be 2 buses but this is irrelevant as the service would not get him to work in time for opening the depot at 7.30am.. so does this warrant a need??

Also, IF we can keep a car (don't know how is meant to work if we can't  ) how does this work?

Our car is valued on parkers as £2200. I know every OR is different but as a general rule of thumb is this an acceptible amount to keep a car. If not how do we get the money to get DH another car and how much would we be allowed to spend? Although the car is to get my DH to work it will be a family car too and i'm panicking i'm going to have to put my girls in an unsafe old car.

Any help on this one guys?

The guideline car value the OR will let you keep is £2k, but most OR's are flexible and will realise it's going to cost more than they will make if they sell your £2.2k car and give you the money to buy one worth £2k. What they might do is ask you to come up with the extra £200.

Who's name is the car registered in and who paid for the car?

I doubt we would be able to put the £200 towards the car if they ask as we're on bare minimum now (I like that feeling :) ) I guess if that were an option we'd just have to let it go in the hope that we would get £2000 for a different one. Seems a faff but I understand why

If he paid for the car he is the owner, as he's the one who will need the car for work I can see no reason why you won't be allowed to keep it.

If, and it is rare and would be a very petty OR, they wanted the £200 they would most likely let you pay it in installments.

Good luck for tomorrow - just be honest and don't waffle. If you don't know the answer to something just say so.
