Hi all
I'm pretty new to this so please be gentle.
Just found Birch effect laminate flooring in the clearance section on the Wickes website. Only £2.45 per pack (1285 x 192 x 7mm) which is £1 per SM.
I'm no DIY expert but even I know that's pretty cheap. Not sure on stock levels etc but hope this helps someone.

Did you buy any or just see the offer? I have just popped down to my local Wickes in Wakefield and its still £9.58 per pack not quite a bargain at Wakefield. Which store did you see this at? Thanks. Mark.Better to remain a silent fool than speak and remove all doubt.0 -

Yeah Miss Laid is right, it was online only. Keep checking their website though, I had my eye on it for a while at the higher price of £3.99 a SM, it was then removed from their website but re-appeared 2 weeks later at the cheaper price?!0

I used the light Oak. It is the cheap end- hence the price. It goes down okay but easily splinters and splits, also the joints are not flush as some pieces seem to be higher than others.
Unless you really are after something cheap I wouldnt recommend it.0 -
I spent most of the weekend fitting the Beech effect floor in our living room... Had nothing but trouble with it, though not entirely because of the laminate itself.
Monkeeboy - if you're having problems getting it flush it's likely to be because your walls aren't entirely square. You only need a slight variation and, unless you use spaces on the edge, you'll find gaps start to appear.
We were going to run ours lengthways until, 2 rows in, we had nothing but gaps. A closer inspection of the wall went to show that it was somewhat concave! Ended up going widthways instead and started out with similar problems but got around them.
The only problem we encountered with the flooring itself was that some pieces hadn't been cut properly and had no full tongue. Took 15 pieces back to a store and they gave us 2 full packs (10 per pack).
I now have the hallway, dining room and kitchen to do in the next 2 weekends!0 -
