I don't know. I'm dealing with Churchill at the minute as bankruptcy is mentioned in my policy but the wording is not clear. I called them to be told that this didn't have any bearing on my policy. I asked her to clarify what it meant on my policy but she couldn't. I have written to them to let them know as I wans't satisfied with this. Low and behold my letter which was sent 3 weeks has fallen on deaf ears.. i'm not happy at all.

As for contents, I was asked if I had ever been bankrupt and, of course, replied yes. It did have a bearing as 11 companies out of 65 only returned a quote.

  • From what I read on here there is no definite answer to this one, it depends on the wording in each policy. Some people declare their BR, some don't.

For what its worth my wife works in insurance and in her opinion, going BR is what is know as a 'material fact' and any changes in material facts should be declared. If not declared then they would be under no obligation to pay out.
    BR 26th Jan 09 . . . Discharged 21/9/09 !!! :j:j:j

Looks like an excuse to me. I'm BR and never been involved in a motor accident and have only had one claim for contents insurance in my whole life. My husband on the other hand has had several motor claims and one claim for contents.

Statistics can be skewed to show what the company wants them to show.
