na would take too long lol, but mostly look at advice if interested. He is in custody so he won't be home till 14th sept and i need him for childcare. Had to give up another teaching job but very lucky that this week i got a call asking about doing some work as a self-empoyed teacher. The tragic thing is he will not be likely to get another job nos he has been in custody! Any way long long story my life........................DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debts
Just to see which month

Em, then once he is back you will need to claim everything you can - especially CTC and WTC. Plus HB and CTB. He will have to apply for JS in his own right and you can claim the tax credits, this is what happpened when my hubby was on JSA. Have you looked at Childcare vouchers as well incase the kids have to go into nursery while you work? It is something else to consider. Have a speak again to that other person who told you to apply for IS. I am sure the support for when he comes out will still be there. Alternatively, try the CAB and see if they can help. You'll have one of the kids back to school shortly so why don't you get an appointment then and get yourself forted for when he get's back?
Your allowances will go up as there will be an extra adult in the house as it stands there is only one and there is now allowance for him. Check out the differences on www.entitledto.com and put the figures in for now and then also when he is back and with you working to see what you will be entitled to.
Good luck. if he wants to get back to work that will be a good thing though, the later he leaves it the worse it will be for him. Have a look at Nursery Vouchers on too, someone else will be able to tell you more, I know some PT working mums who get them locally.0 -

My understanding was that you can only get childcare vouchers if you have a PAYE job, they don't apply for self-employed people. But you might qualify for the childcare element of child tax credit.0 -
Is that right? I did not realise that the childcare element was different to Nursery vouchers though.
I know nothing about them for this reason but thought I would mention it.0 -
Yes, the child care element is a different thing to nursery vouchers, and some people may be better off with one or the other. I am a bit wary of the nursery vouchers because it isn't quite as simple as just buying a voucher and a few years ago (when it might have applied to me!) when I read Martin's guide on this site, I thought it was a bit over simplistic.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but you probably want to get advice on exactly what mileage you can claim. You can't normally claim for your journey to and from your normal workplace - only any other work related mileage you do.
As others have said, HMRC will be able to answer these sorts of questions easily enough.0
