Halloweenqueen mentioned this site in her post on the homemade lasagne thread and I just went on it and wanted to recommend it to all of you who may not have seen her recommendation. It is a great site and I have just spent two hours looking round it and am filled with loads of new ideas for thrifty meals and ideas!! Do have a look - it is www.hillbillyhousewife.com

I heard about that site before I really got into the forum here. I think I must have read every one of her pages. Some of the pulse recipes are really good and tasty, even my son eats them and he hates pulses. It is a great site, lots of good nutritious recipes, and because it is American, when she says it will feed 6, it really does!
I loved her idea for a $45 emergency menu, I don't know how much all that would cost in GBP, maybe someone else could supply us with those details.0 -
I spotted that one too, and earmarked it immediately for my favourites
Didn't know whether to stick it in the Finance or the Family Organisation folder though.

I like this site too for the recipes, but I do find the religion in the blog and some of the links a bit OTT - very fundamentalist.
Another good one ishttp://www.livingonadime.com/index.html0 -
Thanks for that site ThriftLady. I've put it in my browse later folder
. I've got so many frugal sites now. I think I've started some weird addiction.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Thank you! I've just looked on the Wikipedia site and it says that saltines are made with less shortening than Ritz' so they're just a bit dryer and crisper. Not entirely sure I'd want them in the soup now I know what they are!0
