JSA log book - is the stuff written correctly?

I don't have a log book, as during the initial interivew, the advisor told me that they ran out of stock. She gave me a photocopy of the log book page.
Could the sign on person give me a log book (assuming it's in stock now)? Or do I need to make an appointment just for that, lol.
I am filling in my photocopied log book page. They have a table with a few columns in bold (see below). I wrote the following (please check if I'm writing it 'correctly'):
what i did: applied for a data entry clerk position
date: 31 Aug
what happend: application submitted
what i will do next: call up to see if I'm accepted
when: 2 weeks time
what i did: register CV with xxx agency
date: 31 Aug
what happend: agency took CV
what i will do next: call up to see if there suitable vacancies
when: next week on 7 September

Yes this looks perfect !! When I claimed JSA I tended to write anything in the booklet as there are not many jobs out there at the moment to apply for.
The information on these books is to my knowledge never checked by the JSA staff as a JSA person told me so.
Just make sure you keep filling it in regularly to keep the JSA staff happy and satisfy the conditions of your job seekers agreement.e.g to apply for 3 jobs a week which was in my case.0 -
Yeah, the person who you see to sign can give you a new log book.
Your log looks fine
As Andy has said, write down anything you do, such as looking a local paper or a recruitment website, even if there are no jobs you can apply for. 0 -
Yeah that looks spot on. When you sign on you will get the log book if you say to the person.0

I never write nearly that much detail! I just write "applied for XXX job" or "attended XXX interview" and the date. It's very rare that I'll fill in any of the other columns. I've never had any problems with it. I expect you will be fine!0

Since it's optional to fill in the other columns, what's the point of having it on the log book?
I'm gonna fill in the other columsn for my very first sign in, so that I make a good impression. I'm going to ask if the other columns are really necessary.0 -
Well, I fill them in when it's necessary. In one of the examples they give, though, one of the other columns just says, "Awaiting response." I did write that for a while, but then got bored of writing it all them time, so stopped. I only write in jobs I actually applied for - I was told on one of my early sign-ons that I was putting too much in there. I was trying illustrate that it may not be absolutely necessary to put that much detail in the book, that's all.
Of course if you're using the book as your own log as well, then it's definitely useful to have the other columns; I have a spreadsheet, so don't really need it.0 -
I've not filled mine in once in the six months I've been signing on, and I've never been asked for it.0

The book is designed to assist them to sign you on quickly and saves you relaying all the info. When you have reviews with an adviser they can also use the book to backtrack and contact employers you have applied to for feedback. If you constantly right 'nothing found' they have every right to send you to programme centre where you will get help to find jobs to apply for. Turn up with no record and you can be made to write down all you can remeber that you have done and send it to a decision maker.0 -
They ask for information on what you have applied for?!! Wow! It's never happened to me, not even on the review. Bloke I see barely speaks and just wants the book signing. Anyway I keep a record on a spreadsheet if I'm ever asked, which I doubt. The book is designed to assist them to sign you on quickly and saves you relaying all the info. Thats certainly not a good example of how things should be done. I would have my staff pulled up on this. You could be on the stage 3 process now and at 12 mnths you will be referred to provision where they will stand over you whilst jobsearching. By providing details what you have done and recording it on your action plan the jobcentre should be looking at what help you need.0
