Appraisal protocol???

My hubby has an appraisal coming up (was due in March)!!!
Company have asked him to fill out appraisal form and send it back to his line manager.
he is having a few probs with his company (Travel time thread if anyones interested) and is worried about the amount of complaining he to do!!
Is this form normally sent out to staff to fill out in their own time and hand back to give manager plenty of time to decide what he is going to do. Hubby doesnt get told what company think about him beforehand in order for him to practice responses !!!
Just wondering what the norm is??

I always let people fill out their appraisal forms and keep them. There were just used as the basis of discussion which we would have and then an agreed form of words would be put on the finished document. I would have no need to see it if a member of staff did not want to show it to me.0

How does your husband feel the job is going? What issues does he have and has he used existing company procedures to address those?
Why do you think he needs to fill out the form in his own time? I understood from the other thread that he worked from home? Just because he fills the form in at home does not mean he cannot "book" the time.
You seem to anticipate problems here - why? You mention his "complaining" - hopefully this has been appropriate and measured?
It's a bad old world out there and a negative outlook will not make life any easier. Your husband should see an appraisal as an opportunity to review his work and draw attention to all of his accomplishments. He should also think about the future and use the form and interview to discuss his longer term prospects.
You give the impression that you are not happy with your husband's employer - please do not let this stance prevent you from providing positive support to you husband.
