making a salt scrub for in the bath?

I was wanting to make my own salt scrub as the nice sanctuary one i had is all used up and rather than pay out the £10 or so for a new one. I have tons of dishwasher salt in the cuboard that i bought cheap. Says the only ingredient in it is salt, though i would not use it in food etc is it suitable do you think to use with olive oil and essenital oils to make my own salt scrub? or am i just losing it for thinking that lol.

Angelrae

Thanks for any advice

Ok i got out the tesco 3kg salt granules for dishwashers and water softeners and it says on the back ( should of done this 1st lol) That you can use it in household water softeners which would send the water to my bath anyway. So it is safe to use as a body scrub WOO HOO i am so pleased :j

Personally I wouldn't risk it- do you have any sugar though? That is exfoliating.

Have you googled - sometimes these obscure recipes come up!

If it just says salt, then surely it must just be salt!!
  • if you're worried use table salt as I think the finer texture would be better on the skin. You can always email the manufacturere and ask.

Why not mix up a small batch and give it a try? It's not like you are going to eat it, the worst that can happen is that your skin doesn't like it and you throw away a little bit of salt and oil...
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • It's all salt, so just go ahead and make some. I would

I think no - dishwasher salt usually disolves less quickly and is more solid than tablesalt. Use regular tablesalt or sugar. Mix with olive oil, essential oils and that is it...make sure you scrub the bath after though as the olive oil will be slippery!
