GCSE re-check ??

Has anyone ever asked CCEA to 're-check' a GCSE mark in the past ?

If so did the mark change, and was it higher or lower than the original mark ?

lots of faffing about with our A level results. Loads had to get them rechecked if they didnt get into uni - loads of grades went up. i got into uni so didnt get them checked. I got fobbed off. I never knew what my real grades were. if you arent happy get themdone or youll regret it forever, i do.

Got my sons GCSE maths result re checked a couple of years agos as he was only a couple of points from the next grade up. It did make a difference as when it was checked he got the extra points and got a C instead of a D. There was a charge to get it re checked, but well worth it.

When my friend got a bad AS mark a few years ago our teacher advised her to get it remarked. The remark actually was lower than the score but they can only mark you up so the higher mark from the first marking stood. You have nothing to lose- worst case scenario is that it doesn't change but you will always wonder "what if" if you have doubts and don't get it checked
  • hi --- can I ask does anyone know the price to get gcse re-marked my daughter was 3 marks off a C last year --she took the exam this year again but unfortunately she got a D 4 marks off a C this time I want to get it checked as her teacher thought she should have got at least a C thank-you
  • Thank you so much for all the replys so far.

The following link shows the prices for re-checks,but altough I cant find the other link right now, I'm pretty sure there's anoher link which mentions the fact that you CAN be marked down......

My daughter is only 1 mark off a higher grade in one English exam and 4 marks off a higher grade in the other English exam so I'm just interested to get feed back from people who've had exams re-checked in the past.

  • I was told last week by a friend that it was £45 per paper! I assume she is correct as her daughter was 3 marks off a B..
  • I did. My geography GCSE.....one paper went up 17 marks, other went down 8, didn't change the grade but was glad i did it to know.

Re checks work, my son needed a C to get into a course and of course that was the lowest mark he got with a D. We had it rechecked and they remarked him C. then he decided he didnt want to do the course, little !!!!

I got a paper remarked in the past and the grade did go up. I had found out that I was only a few marks away from the higher grade so gave it a go and got the higher grade.
I did have to pay but as the mark was upgraded I got a refund. I'm not sure whether this is still the case it was about 8-9years ago.
I'm pretty sure the school can advise you on this and maybe even the careers teacher. It's a simple exercise, just fill in a form and wait for the result.

I know a few friends who've got theirs rechecked. One was 2 marks away from a higher grade, but it didn't move. The other was a few points away, remark went up 4 marks, but still not enough for the next grade band.

If you think the grade was wrong, you have nothing to loose getting it checked. I think a remark was around £35 or so when my friends got it done.
