hiya all,
I got sacked from my last job 3 weeks ago and now i am looking around for some jobs.at the moment leading up to xmas i am going to try my hand at some xmas posts ie royalmail, argos etc.
now the last job i was sacked for gross misconduct.i was employed by them for 22 years and no problems until i swore twice at a work colleuge(b4 opening time) and then was sacked.
for the last 3 and a bit years i have been also working for the NHS but losing 22 years work history is going to be tuff.
now when i go for a job on the application form i am going to put down dismissed what do i say at the interview.do i try and explain what happened ie like i have just said because thats what really happened.
plus when there get refencences there will it come back as saying i got done for gross misconduct or start date then finish date?
cheers for your help stevo.

I certainly wouldn't explain it as you have on here; you sound as though you think it unfair and as if you've learnt nothing from it.0

I remember on the last post I saw I said to calm down, you are really coming across all wrong. You need to accept that it has happened and move on......going on and on about it [which you could easily slip into if an interviewer suspects unresolved issues and asks you to expand] could seriously jeopardise your chances of securing another position.
'I was dismissed for swearing'; is enough.0 -
best thing you can do is not ramble on and on - keep it simple and the interviewer will ask more if they want to know more. Stop stressing! In the grand scheme of it you have not done anything major.0

nope i just wanna get on with my life and forget what went on. so shall i put down dismissed and when they ask just say dismissed for swearing.0

I dont mean this to be cheeky, but you keep asking the same thing and you will keep getting the same answers. None of us really know what will happen as we are not interviewers, or know what the policies are regarding this in some of the companies you might apply to.
All you can do is apply and wait and see whats going to happen. We can only tell you is our opinions and discuss our experiences with you.0 -
well i am going to try anything but for the moment i am looking into xmas jobs with the likes of royalmail, tesco, argos etc.0

All you can do is try and wait and see. People who have been sacked do move on and get work (I am proof of this). I know its scary and the uncertainty is awful but all you can do is go with the flow - just make sure you are honest.0 -
ok cheers for that ad i am allways honest with everybody in work and play. cheers stevo.0
