  • Hi sent a letter from the post you gave, had another letter today and these are the main parts,
    They thank for our letter then put " with regards to your statement about the account being statute barred, this has certainly no bearing on this account. The balance was sold to them Jan 2004."

    they then state the payments my husband paid in 2007 and thats it. At the top of the letter it gives the balance.

    What should be do now as if it was sold to them in 2004 it must have been taken out at the latest 2003 which is about 7 years ago? Wouldn't this make it statute barred even though he did make some payments to the via Mackenzie hall in 2007?

    Any advice please as it looks like they are saying we still have to pay the money?

    They have put they have requested a copy of the agreement. We asked for this from Mackenzie in 2007.

    *did start a new post but told as he paid some money it will reactivate the debt? Just wanted your advice as was told in this thread they can't?

  • I also have had letters from this company regarding a debt from days gone by. I binned it and every other letter since then and I have never been take to court yet. They try to bombard you with important looking !!!!!!!! like we may take you to court or we may default your credit file etc but they never do cause they cant.
    Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. University education flushed down the toilet through debt at 22. Car finance at 23. Car repossessed at 24. Rock bottom at 25. Learnt my lesson 26-33. Now 34 with a mortgage on an affordable house, a car paid for with cash and a bank account in credit. I learnt the hard way.
