Does anyone know how to remove shed paint from a leather belt OS?

I managed to get shed paint on my leather belt somehow and didn't notice it until it was dry.

I now have a lovely shade of sage green on my favourite belt.

Does anyone know of an OS way to remove it or anyway infact?

The stuff we used on outdoor wood was water based and just washed off. What did you use?

I can't remember but the paint has dried and I didn't notice it for a week or so and now won't wash off.

Don't have a clue what to use to remove it without ruining the belt?

  • I got bright green emulsion paint on my leather jacket and after worrying for months, I bit the bullet and Very carefully wiped at it with a cotton wool bud dipped in some nail varnish remover and it came off fine. do it somewhere it wont show first to make sre it doesn't take the finish off though.

try one of those magic sponges - jml ones dear look in aldis lidls or pound shop. use it damp and rub gently. if this doesnt work the paint may have had some oil base so try cooking or baby oil on cotton bud. its annoying when fave items get paint on so i have to say i have tried various methods both the ones above worked for me on a fave handbag and a pair of leather shoes. never had the nerved to try acetone - nail varnish remover - but would have if other methods not worked.
  • I was very surprised it didn't take the finish off but my jacket was fine (must depend on the tanning process).

That's what I was going to suggest. SOme say WD40 does the same job, but i've not used either on leather - just so you know.
