well usually, well my understanding is that when you sell a house a survey is done of the house. on that survey usually these items are picked up. Depends on whether this survey is carried out or not.

Sorry but that is rubbish they are very unlikely to pick up on this unless the install is blatantly looks unsafe! My father is a retired building surveyor who carried out surveys for mortgage valuations right up to full structural surveys. Even on a full structural survey the surveyor doesn't inspect every cable, switch, socket..it's not his job. He might notice if something doesn't look right ..like if it's old rubber cabling, if the consumer unit appears dated and advise an electrical inspection. Now my Dad carried out surveys for me when house buying and even then when he had a vested financial interest he only went as far as opening up a light switch. Incidentally although his job was a surveyor he also rewired my sister's house pre-partp so he does know a little about electrics!

If the cable does give the year of manufacture on it in an exposed location i suppose you could just paint the cables same colour as the wall. Seriously noone is ever going to know - unless your stupid enough to open your mouth to the estate agent, vendor, surveyor or solicitor. Even if the vendor does later find out after completion about wiring carried out without partp notification by then it's too late...it's a case of caveat emptor!

So i'd do nothing and wait and see if this becomes a problem or not..i doubt it will!
