Is he a qualified electrician for Part P then?
I am sure there are part P electricians out there you would not be confident in and people out there you would be confident in who don't have part P. And I say that, despite being generally in favour of Part P

Surely you can 'mention' this is the pub and there's £50 waiting for someone who issues a certificate? Like HIPs these bits a paper are just a con.

I note you were being sarcastic, but I suspect there are quite a few dodgy certificates being offered and accepted?

Although notification of this work under Part P of the building regulations would have been required (since the work was done after Jan 1st 2005), no-one can prove just when the work was done, especially if he used the wiring colours in force at the time (red & black). The new (European Harmonised) cable colours were still optional at that time (brown and blue came only became mandatory under 17th Edition wiring regs in July 2007). Contrary to what was posted above, the "new" coloured cables DO NOT have "2005" printed on them seeing as it has nothing to do with it!

If the work was done in back 2005 then don't worry about it for a minute, no one should care about or ask for any certification. (and yes, I AM a qualified and certified electrician, look at some of my other answers!).

Thanks, though it does say H2005 approx every 200mm on the 16mm cable, if this isn't the manufacture date of the cable, then what is it?

    Cheers

No-one is ever going to look at the cable...
You are moving to another property? Are you going to remove the shower casing and examine the cable? Do you think your surveyor is?
