Hi, have a not too bad credit rating, have a loan with the halifax, (had £5000 loan) balance left at £768.00 paying at £112 a month
, and have never missed a payment, I need a further loan but am now due to an accident at work, unable to work again and am in receipt of DLA, IIDB AND Incapacity benefit, as I am now unemployed and rang the bank concerning a further loan,(did not apply just questioned)the fact that I do not work seemed to be a problem, someone told me about Loans for the disabled, but I have never heard of them , I only part filled in the form on line then cancelled, and since then have had calls from yes loans, wentworth, all of which I wouldnt touch after reading about them on this site (thanks to all who posted) has anyone ever used this loans for the disabled? or heard of them, or know of any provider I may have some luck with even though I am not in work?

  • Some banks will use some type of benefits as income suitable for a loan others will not take any.
They will not publicise these terms either as they would be overwhelmed by applications so the only way to find out is to ask them before applying.

The only other alternative is to see whether you can get a new credit card.
  • Just as an afterthought to my last post - you say that you will not work again are you technically retired then?

If so that might look better on applications.

I'd like to help someone in a similar situation. She is on disability allowance and has a £2000 overdraft on a Nat West current account. I was thinking of an Alliance & Leicester account which allows a free debt up to this amount.

Unfortunately she is not on the Internet and the £500 monthly deposit might be difficult! Is it possible to extend a standard (not offset) mortgage for such a small amount?
