Ironing Board - Brabantia

Hi,

Wife is currently looking for a Brabantia Blossom ironing board (125cm x 45cm), and the cheapest I can find for collection is from our local Dunelm Mill at £67.99 - Argos also have them £12 cheaper but only with a £6 delivery charge and a 2 day wait.

Does anybody have any suggestions on where these might be available cheaper - and also if this is a good size or if she should go for a larger board or even an alternative brand?

Advice appreciated.

With thanks and regards,

KT56.

I can`t help on finding this ironing board but I just wanted to ask,has your wife seen it in the flesh and handled it? I ask this because a couple of years ago I bought a very large and expensive one from Argos. Excellent quality but it was very, very heavy and so huge when put up that I struggled to carry it, fold/unfold it and to find space to put it up and actually use it ( needing room for the board, to actually stand behind it working and have my clothes rail put up and accessible to hang the ironed clothes on or to be able to walk around the board to put folded ironed clothes on the bed or sofa....). Ended up buying a smaller cheaper one and kept the big boy for a spare.

ETA - found it here for £56 delivered. I have bought from this company and they are very good to deal with but don`t know how quickly they could deliver it for you.

    It's here for £51.50 (+£5.50p&p) http://www.gwdoling.co.uk/house_d.asp?stockcode=030282B

I haven't used the site but found it through Google shopping.

I have a big Brabantia. Much prefer it to a smaller, wobbly one.

That one has a different iron rest than mine. I put my steam generator onto mine.
  • Lol sorry Jackieb has posted the link that I forgot on my edit. Like I said above, I have bought from them and was very happy with their service.
  • Thanks for replies and suggestions and as it happens we have been using my mother's ancient Brabantia which is still going strong after 20+ years use, but it weighs a ton and having stripped it down I can see why as it's made from chipboard - newer models such as the Blossom I believe use a metal bed which cuts down considerably on the weight problem: having seen it in Dunelm, I can say that the first thing we noticed was how light it was compared to the older model.

Will persevere and thanks for ideas where we can find cheaper - will ask the wife to call Dolings on Tuesday if all else fails.

    Regds,

Mine has the mesh board. Over time I have got new elasticated covers, and just popped the new one over the old ones. I have 3 on it just now. I find that once the padding goes flat on the covers, the pattern of the mesh tends to come through. It doesn't now though, even though the latest cover has went flat too.

I iron sitting down. If you do this and have a powerful iron, be careful with the mesh board. I've burnt my legs with steam more times than I care to mention. :o
