Her employer should have a procedure in place to deal with matters like this.
She can ask to see their policy.

Is your daughter a member of a union. If she is I would suggest she speak with her union rep who will be able to offer support in this situation.

When I worked at the cinema (I left a few weeks ago), when working on Retail, each person had their own till and username/password. Each till has exactly £100 at the start of the shifts. You're cashed up at the end of each shift, so if the till is up or down, it's your fault and no one else can be blamed. The only people that have access to the tills is the team managers with a key. The tills cannot be opened when you're not behind them as they lock.

All retail areas should adopt this procedure and then there will not be any problem in proving who's taking money. I've seen multiple people sacked on the spot for being down on their tills constantly each shift. They could not blame it on anyone else, so either they was taking the money or giving out the wrong money constantly.

To be honest, at this time, a company is not going to think twice about sacking someone who they suspect is stealing. They know they could fill their position within an hour with hundreds of applicants wanting the job.
