Advice for Bankrupts re Co-Operative Account

Hi
I went bankrupt in July, and its the best thing I ever did. Now, I realise that banks are going to view bankrupts not with high esteem, but Natwest are ridiculous. I wrote to them and they informed me that they would keep my Step Account open. The OR agreed and everything was ok. However they now require that every time funds are entered in the account they want the OR to write to them releasing the account. I find it rather strange as the OR has no real power to stop, start or freeze accounts any more.
Anyway, I have got a new account with the Co-Operative Bank. The Cashminder account is a great account as it has no overdraft and it comes with a Visa card, Not Visa Electron. All of there Cashminder accounts are now fully Visa cards what is a great bonus as I am very unaware of any other high street bank that does not charge you for a visa account for bankrupts to use without any hassle. I applied on Sunday Afternoon and have got all the details today. And most of all I was not asked for any ID, even better when applying over the phone. Ofcourse, they do say they do a credit check, but its not a credit check, its a ID check. They check the details you have given them by looking on your credit file, but this is never a problem as its only checking you are who you say you are!
Just thought I would add this for any bankrupts who are looking for accounts as I can fully recommend them.

I fully recommend the Coop too - I've had my account nearly 2 years now and have never had a problem with it.
They accept most people but if you went BR with them as a creditor they might not open an account for you.

Barclays are another BR friendly bank - they offer a basic account with a proper Visa Debit too, even if you owed them money. My ex OH went BR owing Barclays money and they still opened an account for him with no problems.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Mortgage free since 2014
