Local Sainsbury's are stopping hiring out DVDs. Wife threatening to have withdrawl symptoms (despite our own massive collection).
Thought that hiring online might be the answer what with 'keep as long as you like', 'no late return penalty', and 'no postal charges' offers.
Have seen several but don't know which is the best.
If anyone is using / has used one I would appreciate any advice I can get.

I'd recommend https://www.dvds365.com, 3 dvds at a time, over 30,000 titles, first class postage, unlimited number you can have each month, no late fees........no hastle
you should manage 40-50 dvds a month if maxed out.all for £14.99Signature what signature....0 -
Both my hire experiences havn't been great. Problem seems to be that the turnover of each |D|V|D is so high and the quality control somewhat mediocre (scratched, don't play, whatever) that it gets very frustrating.
I reckon over the last 3 months about 40-50% I've got have had problems. Sometimes, you just have to miss a frame when it sticks and it is kinda Ok-ish, but other times they just stick, or don't even load.
I advise getting a PVR instead. There are so many decent films on TV, even just freeview, that recording them and watching at leisure is better and cheaper. Humax 8000T is very cool and great value!!!0 -
Tesco were good but have gone downhill. Have switched to Blockbuster but the Amazon deal looks interesting. It pays to challenge0

lovefilm.com and screenselect.co.uk have both been excellent, I've taken advantage of their free trials.
WHSmiths have also started one, might be worth a look, especially as they are probably offering a free trial!FAIRTRADE NOT FREE TRADE

I have tried a few of the free trials and looking for a new one to start in the New Year. Having read a few of these threads some people get good service with one but others don't, seems to be hit or miss. I had good service with Tesco and Screenselect but not DVD365 for instance.
I think the next one I will try is Lovefilm as it seems to get good reviews.0 -

Try this website. You can go through all the trial periods and get loads of free DVD rentals0 -
I am currently with https://www.lovefilm.com which I joined via woolworths. I am 3 weeks into my 4 week free trial and so far its been okay. Mind you, I have only been able to turnover 3 movies! Realistically you can't expect to turn over much more than 6 movies in a week if you sign the £14.99 , 3 movie deal. As an illustration, if you receive 3 movies on the Monday and manage to return one or all on the Tuesday, even though it is via first class post they do not seem to acknowledge receipt till about Thursday. If you receive your next batch on the Friday and manage to post the dvd/s back on the Saturday the earliest you could get a return would be Tuesday but more than likely it will be Wednesday if you get my drift. At 6 movies it still comes in at less than £1 per movie so it is not really bad. At least you have nothing to loose if you try it for free. PM me if you would like a referral that would give you a 4 week free trial. If you stay on and start to pay I will also get 4 weeks extra free.

I am currewntly with Blockbuster on a months Traial and to be fair the first week has been great,if i decide to keep the membership its only £13.99 for 3 movies out.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.
A young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent,
the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.0 -

In what way has Blockbuster been great? Still it is a £1 cheaper than lovefilm and it seems you automatically get the 1 month free trial so worth the punt.Do you make things happen, watch things happen, or just wonder, what happened?0 -
We are in the middle of our 3 weeks free trial from https://www.screenselect.co.uk, to continue it will be £14.99, for 3 DVD's at a time. Go through GraseyPalm for £6.00, so at the moment I'm being paid to watch the films!
We have managed to see about 8 in 12 days, with Xmas in between, probably because we have both been off work and have more time. Sevice has been quick and good, films of good quality so far, will probably pay first month, and then cancel, as both my daughters have birthdays in January, and the films will be good for sleep-overs.:j0
