jacket potatoes

how long do they take to cook in the oven
I normally cook them in the microwave but I need to cook about 10

Comments

  • I cook large jackets in the microwave for ten mins. Then put them in the oven for 45 mins to go crispy.
    :j
  • I wait until I am going to have the oven for a roast or a lasagne or something and do half a dozen or so and then I can neuk them on demand.
  • They take about 1 hour in the oven on about 200C, but depending on their size may take up to 90 mins, but theyy're soooooo much nicer from the oven, crispy on the outside and soft inside, yummy!
You can tell they're done by sticking a knife in one of them,k they shuld feel soft inside. A lot of people say you must put oil on them or wrap them in foil, but all I do is wash them (if they're dirty) and put them straight on the oven shelf, easiest of all and never had any probelms.

    My baked spuds

Fork all over asbout 12 times in each one. Spray with spray oil and sprinkle lightly with rock salt. Bake at least 30 mins. How to know they are ready - using a fork, make a line up the middle of the potato. Now try to pop it open with your fingers - if it pops open, it's ready! If not, ten more minutes. Chilli flakes are a nice addition too IMO. Cook until your desired

SOuffle baked pots - once cooked, scoop out insides, keeping shells in tact. Mash in a bowl and mix with bacon, cheese, bits of veg, s & p. Cheese, ham, what ever. Finally bind with an egg, place back in shells and top with cheese. Bake for 10-15 mins.

Im drooling just thinking about them. Spring onions and sweetcorn good additions.:j

Easiset way to tell how they are cooked is to put an extra one in and then at the end of cooking time, cut one open

and we will never, ever return.

This is a waste though, unless you're going to do something else with it. Its so easy to tell when they're done by sticking a knife in one anyway.
