Pityriasis rosea

Hey my 7 yr old has just been diagnosed with the above skin condition, not asking for medical advice just wondering if anyone else has had experience of this condition and has any tips. Doc has said he can do all that he would normally do, i am just worried about him going back to school and being picked on because of his appearance, he has some of it around his neck and all across his trunk and is meant to start swimming next monday!!

I think as parents we worry about these things far more than children do. i remember when I first found out that my five year old needed glasses, I was mortified as kids in primary school when I was little got called four eyes etc and all sorts. Nothing in the slightest has happened - as a matter of fact he adores his glasses and thinks he's cool as he has them and other kids don't - go figure.

I wouldn't suggest doing much about his swimming at all. If anyone asks about his condition, he can tell them that he has bad skin or if he can remember the name for the condition then he can impress them with it. Kids tend to accept things for what they are and they get used to it.......often in a more grown up way than many adults. We're all different shapes and sizes.

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."
