Mushrooms & Pots

I have half a punnet of mushrooms that are starting to look like they need using quickly but were out tonight and tomorrow so we wont get chance to use them. Can I freeze them? Do I need to do anything to them before I freeze them. Also potatoes don't want to throw them so I thought i'd make mash and freeze it.....do I put the milk and butter in or freeze them plain?

Sorry for all the questions this is all new to me :D

Did think thread was going to be about how you had grown mushrooms in pots at home !!

    Hi Winniepooh,

if im freezing mash i only add a small amount of butter and nothing else, the pots hold quite a lot of water and can be too soft afterwards.

Mushrooms i just wash, dry, slice and freeze. They are ok to use in things that need cooking afterwards like bolognaise.

    Hi winniepooh,

Yes, you can freeze them both. There is lots of advice on these threads:

    Freezing mushrooms

    Freezing fresh Mash

    Freezing potatoes

I'll add your thread to the Quick Questions on freezing thread later as your query may help others.
