Wedding dress back help! (please)

Hi

I bought my "preloved" ;) dress (maggie sottero Julie in ivory) off ebay.
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=julie&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=12&style=433

It fits really nicely but the style of the back of the dress is not what I want.
The back panel / modesty panel only comes half way up behind the corseting (if you know what I mean).

On the inside of the back there are clear prestud things which make it look like a "full length" modesty panel could be inserted. I would imagine that if you bought it from the shop, this would be an optional extra.

Has anyone got this dress with a full length panel? Does anyone know where I could find one? Have tried ebay / google to no avail (but I might be using the wrong search terms)

Thanks very much for any advice / help,
Snich x

Is the modesty panel seperate? ie, not attached to the dress in any way?
You can always get a spare one made if you don't have any luck sourcing one.

No it's sewn in on one side half way down and then (wonkily!) lays across my back under the lower half of the corset ties.
I need the dress shortening so I reckon I could sort something with spare material but I really like the usual ones that come with the maggie dresses (just didn't have the money for a new dress!)

I don't think you can make a new panel from shortened hemline unless you have about 6" to come off. If you need the hem doing, the seamstress should be able to source a matching fabric (looks like duchess satin) to make a new one and stitch in. x
  • it looks lovely and in the pic its only halfway up isnt it?

is a very pretty dress x
