    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

    For any newbies

Well done on your new/old kitchen appliances Numpty. The joke shop is a joke - what course are they sending you on this time?

I have news - my earrings have been returned:j, friend turned her nose up at the offer of tea/coffee, she did not ask where the cake was (its still in the shop) and then she banged on about our school reunion that took place about 3 years' ago (I didnt go)..I have no interest in what folks that we went to school with are doing. She also dozed and made out that she was really tired but she soon went and I could have some lunch:j

Excellent news Horace:j. I assume they are still as you lent them to her? Keep them somewhere safe and never lend her anything again. I'm almost disappointed she didn't ask about the cake - I wanted you to give her a good talking to. Still at least now you can cut contact with her.

What course are you doing Numpty? is it something useful or at least interesting? Do you get free lunch? I keep telling my friend to go on every course offered for the free lunches!

:jExcellent news on the appliances Numpty, especially the F/F as old ones can use double the leccy on newer ones.

    icon5.gifQuestion Time

What really modern appliance/gadget can you remember your parents buying for the first time when you were a kid?

My friend can remember her parents getting a freezer and a phone for the first time, but I cannot remember these, my parents had them before I was born.
I do remember the first push button phone they had so you didn't have to do the circle dialling thing.

I remember their first TV with a remote control, prior to that it was one of those dials on the back to change the channel. I also remember a video with a remote control that was attached to the video with a wire :rotfl:

    Hi all
Great news on the washing machine and f/f Numpty :j. Hope the course is going to be some use and (as Tixy says) you might get a free lunch, fingers crossed.

Horace - great news about the earrings :)

Tixy - are you trying to make me feel old with your "what can you remember your parents buying" Question Time  My parents had black&white TVs so small you could barely see them and with a dial on the back to change the channels when I first remember the TV, they had a phone with the "circle dialling thing":rotfl:until probably the late '70s when they got the modern push button one. I remember them buying a spin dryer (wow) and then a toploading washing machine (wow again) and a Morris Minor as their first car! I also remember the first "mobile phones" that weighed as much as two bricks and came with a battery pack the size of a small suitcase (and that was only in the late 80's/early 90's). God I feel old ..... Where's me walking stick and portable commode? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ahhh yes, progress, where would we be without it?

Back on all fours again, no doubt!

If you had a push button phone in the 70s you were much more modern than us! I remember the dially type, remember using it, so it must have been say '84 or so before we got one (us country folk are a bit slow on the uptake of these new fangled things!)
