Nil Tax Code

As you know in Bankruptcy you’ll have a nil tax code until the end of the financial year.

And usually Moon Beaver (Solicitors) will collect the tax on behalf of the OR.

Now I might be being a bit dense…

But how do you know what your tax would have been?

In other words how do you work it out.

    Thanks Phil,

But I'm still not sure how you work out what the tax would have been.

Or is it worked out for you and mentioned on your payslip?

Thats one of the main reasons I worked out my BR to go just before end of tax year - so I didn't have the hassle of nil tax code.

    Good point 5 year.

Now I am beginning to worry that you do have to work the tax out by yourself.

    Is that really the case?

Someone - please say "no it's worked out for you" lol

It's usually an average of your last 3 payslips, they'll tell you what they want you to pay. It's a fixed monthly amount

I always assumed you had to work it out but it has never been clear to me. Since I didn't have one myself I'm not really sure - sorry not to be any help on this!

What if you don't earn the same amount every month or if you get paid weekly?

    Thanks everyone.

The good news is - one way or another - it's worked out for you.

    Thank goodness for that.
