Dear All,
I am just so delighted I have to share this.
I normally use GA.MA hair straighteners with ionic ceramic plates, but dropped a pair causing them to crack. Fed up with the idea of spending another £70 to replace them I did a search on ionic ceramic straighteners on ebay and came up with these:
Hair Devils utilise the latest generation of PTFC ceramic tourmaline heaters, with
ultra-rapid heat up times thanks to the built in dual microprocessor technology, providing consistant heat across the entire surface of the ceramic tourmaline plates. When the correct temperature is reached you are updated by the flashing green light as it regulates the power to ensure a constant temperature, heating up to 210° degrees in seconds.

Not saying the seller as I might be accused of spam, but I am just so pleased with these I had to share. If you search ebay you will find them I'm sure

A lot of straighteners seem good to begin with, when they are new. A few months later they start snagging your hair and all the coating gets scratched. I had this problem with a pair of Andrew Collinge, then when I looked at the warranty - there was no warranty.
Although I suppose for the money you paid, it doesn't matter if they only last a few months. Personally I'd rather spend £25 or so on some Babyliss, which I know will last at least 5 years (or I can replace them under the warranty).0 -

I second this but prefer Remmington to Babyliss:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -

Thanks for you comments but I have tried babyliss- do not get hot enough and the plates are not good solid ceramic but coated. Also remington- better than babyliss but still rough on the hair.
I only listed these because they were excellent quality when I received them and some people do not have the money but still want to have straighteners- kind of the money saving point of this forum?
So not sure why you respond with saying ooh don't spend £8 never seen the things sure they will be rubbish in the end, spend £25
Also regarding the coating getting scratched - these are solid ceramic plates not coated- ironically that is why I dislike the babyliss you recommend
If this thread is what are the best straighteners now regardless of what you spend my personal recommendation is GA.MA. But I do not think it money saving to tell people to fork out £70.
constructive comments please.0 -

i did not. I just disagreed with you. And said you had mssed the point of my post. CHEAP excellent hair straighteners
Personally I always find it rather sad when someone takes the trouble to post on a forum something they think good value so that others can share it, only to be shot down..0 -
You said my post wasn't constructive - what, do you only want people to post if they agree with you?
The point I was making is that if you buy a pair of straighteners from a well known brand which have a decent warranty, you know what you are getting. I'm not convinced that a £2.99 pair of straighteners from ebay are the genuine article, sorry.
As for the specifications, the Babyliss ones I have go up to 230 degrees and the ones you bought only go up to 210, so how can you say they are not hot enough? You also state that the Babyliss ones I recommend are only coated, whereas yours have solid plates - how do you know this, when I haven't stated which ones I have?
The whole point of a discussion board is that people discuss things.
From a moneysaving aspect, cheap is not always the best.0 -
I cannot be bothered to go round and round this with you.
You object to me saying I don't like babyliss (because I have had a bad experience) -because I do not know exactly which one you have.
OK how is that different to you objecting to these that you have never even seen?
The point of the first post was that I took a risk on some cheap ones and they are absolutely great.
So I innocently recommended them,
You seem to have taken offense that I have done this
Now can we please leave this?0 -
I use Mark Hill ones there really good and heat up to 220!
There only £49.99Theres 2 types of horse owner, a person who owns a horse and a horsey person

I think we all know that cheapest is not always the most money saving, the Remmingtons I like also heat up to 230 and have a five year warranty, I doubt I will need it though from experience they will last at least that time.
helcat26, this is a public discussion forum, you or anybody else can suggest or comment as they please as long as its not abusive however in my experience you can learn a lot from MSE if you speak to people how you would wish to be spoken to yourself, myself and geri1965 expressed our opinions, perhaps if you are rather sensitive about how your posts are responded to then MSE, having the lively forum that it does, is not for you:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
