MySupermarket a bit of a rip off?

I was wondering if I'm the only person who finds the mysupermarket comparison site a bit of a cheat. Depending on what shop I pick to do my weekly shop in its always the cheapest:rolleyes:. I dont actually order online though, I do the shop then write a list and buy instore so I know what deals are on etc.
Today I was doing the shopping at tescos and it was £42, Asda £48 and Sainsburys £58. When I click on all the other baskets some of the things they have replaced my original tesco stuff is hillarious, no wonder they cost so much. I added 8 tesco's own muller corners (£2 for 8)but at asda they put 5 strawberry yoghurts and 4 crunch corners (£3.86) despite the fact asda do their own ones too. Ive noticed this right across the whole shop that the things they replace with are always more expensive.
I always tend to buy whatever is on offer in certain shops. Like cheese for instance. So if Tesco were doing a bogof on one and sains were doing it on something else id buy whatever the offer was.
Has anyone else noticed this? (or am I the only mental case:D)

Nope i've noticed this too and tend to not really bother using it anymore because i don't see the benefit, i also find their website boring compared to the actual supermarkets websites.
At first i thought it was because i start my shop off by going through the offers and obviously some won't be on at the other supermarkets so will work out dearer, but even when i do swap between shops to compare they do make ridiculous substitutions.
Why when i add Tesco value jarred beetroot would they put Baxters in the Sainsburys basket when i know sainsburys do an own brand version not as cheap as value but still cheaper than Baxters.0 -

I live in an area where none of the supermarkets deliver, but I use MySupermarket to check out what deals are on - that way I can be specific when I go to the mainland in knowing what I want where!0

not impressed with them, did my first order with them through cashback kings and ive had to raise a ticket cos it didnt track
find it a bit of a pain tbh'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -
I noticed this too. I think it's because I always go through the special offers first from whatever supermarket I am looking at, so that always brings the total of that particular one down by quite a bit in comparison. If I was to just have a list and get exactly the same items from each one then they might well be a bit closer in price. Waitrose is always way, way higher than the others for me, often as much as £30 or more, but they don't deliver in my area anyway.0

hi, iv noticed quite a lot of people do there shopping at tesco, and use their clubcard which im looking at doing but are tesco not quite expensive? i would rather stick to asda and not get any points than start shopping at tesco and spend double what i normally would. also does anyone know what the tesco nappies are like i have always used asda's.0

I shop at either Asda or Tesco on MySupermarket and do find whichever I start with the cheapest as you pick offers which can't be matched. However I have noticed Asda comes up loads cheaper than Tesco, whereas Tesco is only a little bit cheaper than Asda IYSWIM.
I do think Asda is cheaper overall, but if you flit between them you can pick up the good offers each time and get the best of both worlds. I only go to Tesco when I have some decent coupons to use - last time I got £100 worth off stuff for £23 after BOGOFS and vouchers! :TDeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Hi there –
You will usually notice that the supermarket you started with has the lowest price. This is because you could be selecting products on offer in your chosen supermarket, which may not be on offer in the other three. In addition, your trolley is reflecting the money you may have already saved by using the Swap & Save function in your current supermarket, while the other supermarkets are still reflecting their pre-Swap & Save prices. To get an accurate price comparison, try using the Swap & Save function at the end of your shop and note the difference in prices between supermarkets before and after using the tool.
We have done our utmost to ensure that the alternative products viewed when switching supermarkets are the most similar to your original selection. mySupermarket compares specific product information (known as the “product DNA”) and identifies the closest alternatives. For example, if your original choice was a branded product like Heinz Baked Beans, we will first see if the same item is available in the other supermarkets. If it isn’t, we’ll try to find the next closest match, which might be Heinz in a different quantity, or maybe another brand, like Branston.
Occasionally, our system might not pick the closest alternative in your opinion. In addition, everybody has different preferences and therefore in some cases, a replacement which is appealing to some shoppers may not be to others. For this reason, we often try to suggest several replacement options when they are available. We are also constantly working on our technology and we investigate every single issue that any of our customers report. We will look into the products mentioned above to see if we can identify particular problems. If you have any other questions which we didn’t answer here, please don’t hesitate to contact us on support@mysupermarket.co.uk or 0800 051 7013.
We hope this helps and that you continue to shop and save on your weekly groceries with mySupermarket.
