Yay well done! That's an excellent start! Keep it up.
I get broadband, xl tv package and landline from Virgin for £35 per month. I do also have a BT landline which I pay £16 pcm for. The only reason I didn't cancell it is because I call my family quite a lot and don't pay anything for the calls unless they go over 1 hour. The Virgin landline only allows free calls at the weekend so the Virgin landline is never used.
Hope that helps.

hiya- thought I would add my two cents....
- I have sky TV, broadband and home phone. £16.50 for the tv and bb, £10 for the phone. £26.50- bargain!
- i have a contract phone thru 3, 200 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited net and emails- £20 a month. 18 m contract!
Just so say it can be done cheaply and you dont 'necessarily' need to go straight onto PAYG or only freeview. I don't have that much debt so I feel that I don't need to cut the things i like and enjoy down to nothing- it really depends how much you want to get rid of the debt and how quickly you want to do it.
I would say the most important thing would be to do a months spending diary, look at EVERYTHING you buy and see if that money had be distributed somewhere else. It sounds so boring but its really eye opening- i used to spend do much money on bottles of diet coke, starbucks and lunch at work, I did a spending diary and totally shocked myself. It might work for you too!

I'm now a Little Chef, well actually I'd be better described as a big cook (that's with two 'O's please
).
Completely not the kind of job I'd like or expect to do, but we'll see how it goes. Even if it's £30-£40 a week it'll be worth doing.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!0 -
When I read the first line of your opening post it's almost as if I could have written it myself. I'm in exactly the same situation and it's all because of bloomin' cars!
Looks like you're taking things in hand though and doing your best to sort things. Good luck with it.Debt at LBM (28/08/09) = £43000 / Current Debt = £39800Wannabee debt free date 28/08/12The 20K challenge £0/£20000 (0%)0 -
Grocery Tip - Set your budget say £300. Withdrawl in cash on payday and pay for everything in cash. Only take £75 in cash on each trip, and well...........you will only spend the cash you have.
Wife has been doing this for 12 months, the difference is amazing......

Hiya my lovely,
I must get off here and go and take some pics of things to eBay but I just wanted to say a couple of things before we go, and then I'll check back in later.
1) we have a deal with sky for about £21 a month which is our internet, phonecalls, and a selection of channels. Hubby likes his docos and I like the music channels and our six months on freeview were the hardest thing we had to do on DFW! We spent that six months getting our debts down to a point where we could afford the sky! (it was great motivation.
The other thing that helped us see that money was a finite resource and we had to choose between things was writing a physical list of what we spend our money on and prioritising those things. We talked a lot about what was important to us, and we looked at how much each thing cost us.
It turned out that we didn't care that much about new cars. the latest mobiles, or going out drinking as they were our bottom three priorities but we spent almost 20% of our income on them.
So we sold out two shiny newish cars and bought one old heap that was big enough to carry my son's drum kit in when necessary. I dumped my mobile altogether, and hubby went PAYG. If we had a night out it was because we'd sold something, lived on baked beans for a week, or done extra work to pay for it.
Has anybody showed you The Snowball yet?
You punch all your debt details into it and it tells you how long you'll be paying it all off for. (2028 when we first did it!)
Then you work out how much you could cut back and add that amount to the amount available for debt repayment in the snowball
Then you gasp at what a massive difference even a small amount makes to your debt free date.

I'll be back later...!
